CARE INSTRUCTIONS

WALLHANGINGS

Hanging

The wallhangings are printed using water based eco pigments onto 100% natural linen from the Isle of Bute. While pigment printing is highly rated for its light fastness, like all coloured textiles, it is recommended not to hang the wallhanging in direct sunlight in order to prolong its life.

The two holes in the wooden batten on either side of the hanging are designed for hanging. Pins are provided with the wallhanging however other methods of hanging are great too. Cup hooks are an effect way to hang if you would like the wallhanging to sit slightly away form the surface of the wall.

The wallhangings should sit flat and straight but due to being posted rolled up, the may require a careful iron to do so. When ironing make sure you iron the BACK of the wallhanging on a clean surface with a clean iron. Use steam and a high heat.

Cleaning

It is recommended to occasionally and gently hoover your wallhanging with a brush head and low suction to minimise build up of dust.

While I do not recommend washing your hanging it is possible to do so if necessary and only if extra care is taken. Please read these instructions carefully. Monitor the wallhanging carefully throughout. These are tested guidlines however I will not take responsibility if any problems occur especially as result of negligence while washing. Please get in touch if there are concerns and I will be happy to help.

Please DO NOT machine wash your wallhanging.

Remove wooden batten prior to soaking.

Keep the wallhanging as flat as possible perhaps by using a bath or by spraying the hanging with a hose or shower while hanging up. Linen remembers its creases so try to minimise sharp folds in the fabric as much as possible while washing.

Many detergents bleach natural fabrics. Try washing with warm water first and if further washing is required, only then use a mild, natural, non bleaching detergent.

DO NOT scrub. Use gentle movements only. Rough scrubbing can wear away the print and break the surface of the linen.

DO NOT tumble dry.

Hang up linen until water is no longer dripping and the fabric is slightly damp to touch. Linen flattens best when ironed dry from being damp. Place damp wallhanging print side down on clean surface/ironing board. Iron the back of the wallhanging using a clean iron with a high heat until wallhanging is completely dry.
